Michael 22nd March 2021

I remember Jimmy down at Hurst Avenue in the late 1960's. I was a youngster of about eight or nine watching my Dad play football with Jimmy's brothers Mick and Chris. When they were playing on the far pitches, Jimmy woudl drive his car over to the pitchside, if it got cold he would get me to sit with him in the car to keep warm. He would not even let me walk back to the clubhouse but drive me back!!! Jimmy was a fixture in the clubhouse on Saturday after the game, along with his guitar; a big part of my childhood. I had no idea about the dustbin story so beautifully told by patsy in her Eulogy. I was also privileged to be able to join your funeral service on Friday, and you had a wonderful send off. I would also bet the reception committee gathered at the entrance to the purley gates would have included my father, Terry O' Brien, Patsy Hanrahan and of course your brother Chris. I hope you have packed your guitar for the journey, and let the Saturday night clubhouse sing songs recommence. Love and best wishes, rest in peace. Michael Sabini
